Alison Stephen

I am a resourceful and focused English teacher with over 30 years’ experience, with a solid commitment to the social and academic growth and development of every child I teach. I have a degree in English and American Studies and a post graduate teaching qualification from Leeds University.

I develop inspiring hands-on lessons that will capture a child’s imagination and breed success by creating an atmosphere that is stimulating and encouraging to students. I ensure that every child’s learning styles and abilities are addressed, through fostering meaningful relationships at all times.

I feel that providing focused individual lesson plans ensure that students make progress especially with regard to examinations. I currently work in a secondary school and enjoy teaching English Language and Literature at KS3, KS4 and KS5. My recent results indicate that my students enjoy English, but also attain a grade higher than their expected grades, allowing them to access their chosen career goals.

As well as being a qualified English teacher I have a Celta qualification allowing me to teach English to speakers of other languages.

In my spare time, I enjoy reading, visiting the theatre and travel.
