Joanna Paluch-Edwards

(GCSE English – Online)

I have been working in education for 20 years. My career began in London where I worked peripatetically in a large, multi-site college for 12 years. I had varied roles which included managing a library team, working as an Additional Learning Support Specialist Tutor in English and maths classes; coordinating and delivering training and development for 800+ staff, and leading on college-wide projects to raise literacy standards. I particularly enjoyed the latter where I worked in partnership with local authorities, libraries and universities to deliver community events. During this time I obtained my PGCE, a level 3 qualification for supporting adults numeracy, a CELTA and an Understanding Dyslexia qualification from London Southbank University.

Since leaving London in 2015 I have taught GCSE English at colleges in the North of England, been a KS3 and 4 English teacher at an International School in Spain and worked as a freelance online English tutor. I am also a registered and experienced GCSE English examiner.

I studied English and Politics at the University of York. I also spent 2 years working there between 2018-2020 as a Student Support and Advice Coordinator. This role involved initiating and coordinating university-wide projects for underrepresented students at university. My work was recognised as sector best practice by the Office for Students, receiving national media coverage.
